After suffering defeat at the hands of Leicester City last time out, Marcelo Bielsa will be looking at what went wrong and whether it’s something that can be rectified ahead of their clash against Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are currently level on points with the Yorkshire outfit, who have pulled off some impressive results so far this season. A win over their closest opponents will be a tough ask but it will establish them in the league if they can get the job done.

The Argentinian made some questionable changes to his squad after half-time against the Foxes. After a poor first 45, Bielsa hauled Jamie Shackleton off the pitch and replaced him with Ian Poveda, who is naturally a right winger. Having both him and Helder Costa on the pitch was a head-scratcher for fans, but could be an avenue the manager wants to explore a bit more.

For this reason, Poveda could get the nod ahead of the struggling Shackleton and he might be partnered up with Mateusz Klich, who usually plays a more defensive role. This leaves no room for Pablo Hernandez, who also struggled against Leicester.

With injuries galore, Robin Koch could be forced to use his versatility to fill the absent No.6 role. With this in mind, £675,000-valued youngster Pascal Struijk could earn his third senior start of the season. He last featured against Aston Villa in Leeds’ impressive 3-0 win, so Bielsa will be hoping that he can pull off another strong defensive performance today.

Gylfi Sigurdsson endured a calamity on the international stage as the Everton midfielder failed to help guide Iceland to victory over Hungary on Thursday night.

Iceland had travelled to the Puskas Arena striving to secure a place at next summer’s postponed UEFA European Championship, but saw their hopes of reaching the tournament dashed by two late goals.

Sigurdsson broke the deadlock in the 11th-minute when his free-kick was fumbled in by Peter Gulacsi, and appeared set to be the hero with his 25th goal in international football.

But efforts from Loic Nego and Dominik Szoboszlai in the 88th and 92nd-minutes overturned the scoreline as extra time loomed, knocking Iceland out in the Play-Off Final and securing a spot in Group F alongside Portugal, France and Germany.

Sigurdsson was Iceland’s hero in their victorious Play-Off Semi-Final tie with Romania last month, when the 31-year-old settled the clash with a brace to successfully mark his international return after a year out of the squad.

Manager Erik Hamren would have been eager to see a similar performance from the Everton midfielder against Hungary on Thursday night, yet saw a disastrous display from the player Ronald Koeman vastly lauded upon his £45million capture in 2017.

“We lost 25 goals with [Romelu] Lukaku and we need more players than one to get that number of goals and he is that type of player with that productivity,” Koeman said of Sigurdsson, via quotes by The National News. “He had really good seasons in Swansea. He is, in my opinion, one of the best in his position in the Premier League.”

Sigurdsson ultimately scored just one goal under Koeman before the Dutch coach was sacked and now boasts a similar record under Carlo Ancelotti, having struck home two of his 24 career Everton goals in 30 games since the Italian’s appointment.

While Sigurdsson broke the deadlock with a great deal of fortunate and was on course to be Iceland’s hero against Hungary until two minutes from time, the £16.2m-rated playmaker endured a calamity with SofaScore data showing he lost 70% of his total duels having won just two of eight contests on the ground and one of two aerial battles.

The former Swansea star further lost possession 18 times, committed two fouls, was issued a yellow card in just the fifth minute, made only one tackle, was dribbled past once and misplaced 32% of his 22 attempted passes.

Sigurdsson’s goal came from just one of two shots on target while fielded at striker alongside Alfreo Finnbogason in a 4-4-2, as well, while also failing to complete his only attempted dribble.

The 77-cap international was able to record two key balls from his 15 accurate passes, but Sigurdsson could only connect with teammates with one of four attempted crosses and one of three long balls as he registered his 48 touches across the field at the Puskas Arena.

A performance like his will make it unlikely that Ancelotti looks fondly on Sigurdsson’s name when Everton return to Premier League action, having also been replaced after 66 minutes in defeat to Manchester United last time out.

Oliver Skipp has no reason to fear for his Tottenham Hotspur career after former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood suggested Jose Mourinho does not rate the young midfielder.

What’s he said?

While speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Sherwood has claimed Mourinho told Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy that Skipp – along with Kyle Walker-Peters and Troy Parrott – is not good enough for the north London side immediately upon joining the club last year.

His initial assessment of the 20-year-old is believed to be the reason behind Skipp’s season-long loan deal with Norwich City, for whom he has started all 13 Championship fixtures thus far this season as the Canaries sit top of the table on 27 points.

Sherwood seems to feel Skipp will need a next-level campaign in the second-tier if he is to seal a future for himself at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Mourinho successfully strived to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer.

“Jose Mourinho has gone in there [and said] Troy Parrott’s not good enough, Walker-Peters is not good enough, Oliver Skipp, not only not good enough, he gets rid of them. He gets them away from the football club,” claimed Sherwood.

“So, all of a sudden, now he has got a shadow of the squad and what he says to Daniel Levy, which is the biggest art in any management, is to get the owner to spend money.

“When he first went in there, Jose Mourinho, they asked him ‘do you need any players?’ He said ‘no, I am happy with the squad’. What a wonderful squad, from the outside. He goes in there, after the inks dry, and he goes to Daniel Levy ‘these are not good enough, we need this one, that one and go get me them’. And Daniel has backed him.”

Should Skipp fear for his future?

Sherwood’s claims should prove very worrisome for Skipp as Hojbjerg has thrived from the off since his £15million summer arrival, while Harry Winks lit up the stage at home to Ludogorets on Thursday night to show what he can offer when given a chance.

But Skipp is in the perfect setting to prove Sherwood wrong, as Daniel Farke is offering the Tottenham product every opportunity to not only develop his talents in a senior squad but play every game as Norwich strive to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

Those opportunities are allowing Skipp to demonstrate how he can offer a defensive force in Mourinho’s midfield, with the 20-year-old so far averaging 6.1 duels won and 2.2 tackles per Championship game while completing 88% of his passes, per SofaScore.

Despite Sherwood’s suggestion, Mourinho has also stated his belief in Skipp’s potential, noting after he penned a new four-year contract in July that he considered the U21 international to be a captain in the making.

“I’m really happy,” Mourinho said, via quotes by the Evening Standard. “Everybody in the club is, his teammates are, I am and Skippy is or not he wouldn’t sign the contract. I think he’s genuinely Tottenham’s future.

“In his mind he wants to go on loan, [for] six months, the whole season. He feels that he needs that, I also feel that would be good for his evolution, so maybe that is the direction we go. I think he can be more than a player; he can be a future captain here. Hugo, Harry.”

So, while Sherwood’s claim must spark fear in Skipp over his long-term future in north London, Mourinho’s words and his performances for Norwich should more than rubbish those of the former Tottenham manager.

There are similarities in terms of how many contributions each full-back gets for their respective sides, and so some LFC supporters have speculated as to whether Gerrard could succeed Klopp in the future – he has of course been linked on plenty of occasions.

وقال دياب في تصريحات خلال المؤتمر الصحفي قائلًا: “ثروت سويلم تغيب عن مؤتمر اليوم لظرف طارئ، وهدف الرابطة هو عودة الكرة المصرية لشكلها الطبيعي”.

وتابع: “الجمهور عاد بعد غياب حوالي 9 سنوات، وكان هناك تجاوب فيما يتعلق بالبث التلفزيوني وتقديم صورة يستحقها الجمهور المصري”.

وتطرق دياب للحديث عن لجنة الحكام قائلاً: “لجنة الحكام أيضًا ساندناها في ملف تطبيق تقنية الفيديو، وأيضًا اتفقنا مع رئيس اللجنة على منع الحكام من التصريحات الفنية بعد المباريات”، وذلك بعد الأزمة التي اندلعت عقب تصريحات محمد عادل حكم مباراة الأهلي والزمالك، وحديثه عن حرصه على احتواء لاعبي الفارس الأبيض بعد تأخرهم في النتيجة بخماسية مقابل هدف وحيد، قبل أن يسجلوا هدفين وينتهي اللقاء 5-3.

وزاد: “هناك تطور في البث التلفزيوني، لا بد أن نثبت على هذا الوضع لفترة وبعدها نرى كيف نطور في هذا الملف”.

وعن موعد إعلان جدول الدوري، قال: “بعد فترة توقف كأس الأمم، سنعلن عن جدول مسابقة الدوري المصري لنهاية الموسم، وبطولة كأس الرابطة ستبدأ يوم ٨ يناير، وسيتم الإعلان عن جميع تفاصيلها في حفل قرعة كأس الرابطة في منتصف ديسمبر”.

وأوضح: “كأس الرابطة سيكون به تنافس مالي كبير، هناك تنسيق مع الأندية فيما يتعلق بمبارياتها ومواعيد المعسكرات، وبنهاية الموسم سيكون الـ١٨ ناديًا قد حصلت على مستحقاتها، كما سيكون هناك جائزة لأفضل لاعب بنهاية الموسم”.

وفي سياق متصل، قال عماد متعب نائب رئيس لجنة الأندية: “التزام الجمهور هو الذي يعطي لنا دفعة لطلب زيادة الأعداد؛ لكن لو لم يكن هناك التزام لن نسطيع أن نطلب”.

كما تحدث خالد رفعت عضو الرابطة عن لائحة النظام الأساسي للرابطة، قائلَا: “في البداية كُنا منشغلين بأمور أخرى؛ ولكن حاليًا بدأنا في تجهيز لائحة النظام الأساسي، وقريبًا سيُعلن عنها، علمًا بأن هدف الرابطة الرئيسي زيادة عوائد الأندية”.

Feliz com a preparação do grupo até aqui, o meia Kleiton Domingues, uma das esperanças da torcida para a competição, falou sobre a evolução do time nas últimas semanas.

– Estamos evoluindo a cada semana e cada dia mais confiantes em realizar uma boa campanha no Campeonato Paulista. O mais importante agora é aproveitar cada dia de treinos e focar tudo nessas semanas que antecedem o início da competição. Estão todos ansiosos para começar logo – disse o jogador.

De acordo com Kleiton, o pensamento da equipe é passar para a fase final do Estadual.
