يحاول نادي برشلونة الإسباني التوصل لحل في مسألة تجديد عقد لاعبه الفرنسي عثمان ديمبلي، والذي ينتهي عقده بنهاية الموسم الجاري.

وتفيد صحيفة “سبورت” الإسبانية أن برشلونة لا يريد السماح برحيل ديمبلي مجانًا، ويفضل الإبقاء عليه والتجديد له.

ويشير التقرير إلى أن برشلونة سيبذل جهدًا أخيرًا لمحاولة إقناع ديمبلي بالتجديد، وهناك الكثير من الاختلاف الاقتصادي بين ما يقدمه برشلونة والعروض التي يتعامل معها من الخارج، لكن النادي يريد إضافة لمسة نهائية للاقتراح لمحاولة التوصل لاتفاق في ديسمبر.

It’s claimed that the Baggies’ officials are seeing if they can work out a move with Big Sam wanting him as part of a major overhaul. It is also thought that Grenier is on wages of around £57k-per-week.

Whilst Albion were busy being embarrassingly dumped out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage by lower league Blackpool, the 30-year-old was impressing in Rennes’ draw with league leaders Lyon.

Indeed, Grenier scored their opener from a deep-lying playmaking position alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Steven N’Zonzi.

SofaScore graded his performance a 7.2, whilst he also delivered 89% of his 62 passing attempts, had 71 touches and won three free-kicks.

He has now contributed towards three goals in his last four outings and is averaging 1.1 key passes, 1.1 tackles and 2.5 long balls per game, via WhoScored.

This makes him a candidate for that box-to-box role behind Matheus Pereira, and really, it’s something the Brazilian needs to get back to his creative best in the no.10 role.

After notching eight goals and a whopping 20 assists last erm, the enigmatic talisman has struggled with just five goal contributions this term, three of which being assists, via Transfermarkt.

Grenier could unshackle his influence further forward, more so than Romaine Sawyers or Jake Livermore, who both are averaging shocking ratings of 6.21 or worse this term.

Former Albion boss Alan Pardew once tried to sign the Frenchman for Newcastle United, citing his “tremendous creative technical ability” as a key attribute to the Daily Express.

The Athletic’s Gunnerblog claimed Grenier would have been a “typically astute signing” at the time. Clearly, his experience at the very top is reason to why he’d be a massive upgrade on someone like Sawyers.

Just imagine him and Pereira, the latter could finally thrive in the top-flight amid claims he’s unhappy at the club.

O Botafogo renovou o contrato do meia Leandro, de 19 anos, na tarde desta quinta-feira. O vínculo, que era até o meio do ano que vem, agora terá duração até dezembro de 2018. A diretoria, dessa forma, se protege de uma possível investida de outros clubes, já que o vínculo anterior – assinada quando ele ainda jogava pelos juniores – era só até o meio do ano que vem. Leandro chegou ao Botafogo em 2013, ainda na categoria sub-17. Rapidamente ganhou a vaga de titular e virou um dos principais jogadores da equipe. David Sullivan is barking up the wrong tree with a potential West Ham United move to sign AS Monaco flop Henry Onyekuru in the January transfer window.

What’s the word?

According to Sabah, the Irons have shown an interest in launching a move to sign Galatasaray and Fenerbahce target Onyekuru and end the Nigerian’s Ligue 1 nightmare.

The 23-year-old has not trained with Niko Kovac’s first-team squad this month after holding discussions with Galatasaray over a potential return to the Turk Telekom Stadium, but is yet to receive a formal offer from the Super Lig giants.

Galatasaray would be Onyekuru’s favoured destination after winning the Turkish top-flight title with them whilst on loan during the 2018/19 season, before joining Monaco from Everton in a £12m deal without playing a single game for the Goodison Park natives.

Fenerbahce are not yet thought to have made an official approach to sign Onyekuru, who Monaco are now willing to part company with in a €1.5m (£1.3m) loan deal that carries a €5.5m (£5m) option to buy in the summer.

Onyekuru struggled to establish himself in the Principality last season, starting only two of four Ligue 1 outings, before joining Galatasaray on loan for the second half of the campaign. He returned to Monaco last summer but has again lived life on the fringes, only opening two of four French top-flight appearances.

The 11-cap international has not featured in any of Kovac’s matchday squads since November, when left an unused substitute in a 4-0 rout of FC Girondins Bordeaux, with his last appearance coming in September as an 83rd-minute substitute at Stade Rennais.

Sullivan should walk away

While Onyekuru is still young and could prove to be a cheap pick up in the January transfer window, Sullivan would be wise to walk away from any potential deal to sign the Monaco flop.

Onyekuru failed to make a single appearance for Everton during his two years as a Toffees player, as the Merseyside outfit continually failed to obtain a work permit for the forward as he was not a regular fixture of the Nigerian national side.

That picture will not have changed since with Onyekuru only earning three of his caps for the Super Eagles in the past two years, and the 23-year-old often being left on the bench.

But beyond any issues in obtaining a work permit, Onyekuru would struggle to obtain a place in David Moyes’ squad as his efforts in France are desperately underwhelming.

He is yet to score a single goal over his eight Monaco outings across all competitions, and struggled to find any consistency once on loan with Galatasaray with one strike finding the back of the net in 12 games.

Onyekuru failing to cut it at Monaco should raise serious alarm bells in east London, as Kovac has one of Ligue 1’s best offences with only Paris Saint-Germain scoring more than the Principality side.

West Ham do not boast the same honour, with Moyes’ squad scoring 27 goals in 19 games for the 10th-best record in the Premier League – lower than Aston Villa and Everton, who have played three and two fewer fixtures respectively, and Leeds United, who are nine points behind the Hammers in the table.

Moyes may need attacking reinforcements after the sale of Sebastien Haller, but Onyekuru will not be the Scottish coach’s answer.

كشف الدولي الإسباني، بيدري لاعب وسط فريق برشلونة، أنه يحاول تقليد الأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي أسطورة الفريق ولاعب باريس سان جيرمان الحالي.

بيدري أجرى مقابلة مع صحيفة “توتو سبورت” الإيطالية، وتنشر كاملةٍ في وقت لاحق ونقلت صحيفة “سبورت” الإسبانية جزءًا منها، بعد حصوله على جائزة الفتى الذهبي 2021.

وقال بيدري: “اللعب مع ميسي كان أمرًا مُذهلًا، لقد هنأني بعد فوزي ببعض الجوائز، وقدم لي النصيحة وأنا أقدرّ ذلك كثيرًا”.

وأضاف صاحب الـ”19″ عامًا: “أنا أحاول تقليد ميسي كثيرًا أحاول تقليده في الملعب وخارج الملعب وحتى عندما ألعب (ألعاب الفيديو/ بلاي ستيشن)”.

وواصل: “إنييستا كان مثلي الأعلى، كنت أبلغ من العمر سبع سنوات فقط عندما فاز بكأس العالم ووضعت صورته في غرفتي”.

وتابع: “لنفترض أنني يمكن أن أكون مزيجًا بينه وبين تشافي، لكني أكرر أنا في الوقت الحالي أريد أن أكون بيدري”.

وبسؤاله عن قميص لاعب يود الحصول عليه أجاب: “أحب بيلينجهام، ربما بسبب دوره إنه مُشابه لدوري، بسبب أسلوبه وشخصيته وأتمنى أن ألعب ضده في وقت ما، لأحصل على قميصه، لديّ بالفعل الكثير من القمصان: ميسي، رونالدو، مودريتش، مبابي والكثير”.

The brunt of the blame might be falling on Neil Lennon’s shoulders right now, but his Celtic players are hardly doing him any favours.

The club are 23 points adrift of Rangers and it looks like their chances of winning ten in a row are completely dusted.

On the chalkboard

If Celtic supporters were able to attend Parkhead right now, you can imagine the atmosphere would be incredibly hostile. The hierarchy would have nowhere to hide and neither would the players. They’d be berated on a regular basis, especially the defence.

Odsonne Edouard has still been in the goals this term – racking up 12 strikes – but he’s not received much aid from the Hoops’ backline.

They conceded 19 goals in just six Europa League outings, being dumped out of Europe in desperate fashion. On top of that, the Bhoys have shipped 11 more league goals than Rangers in three fewer outings.

It’s a dismal record, one they simply have to improve in the back half of the campaign.

The solution

Celtic may have kept a clean sheet against Hamilton in midweek but when they face St Mirren on Saturday afternoon, they simply have to take Shane Duffy out of the starting XI.

When the centre-back signed on loan from Brighton at the start of the term it looked like a wise addition. After all, this was a fully-fledged international with English Premier League experience.

Though, for all of the expertise he possesses, he has been nothing short of a shambolic acquisition. Time and time again Duffy pops up with a mistake and certainly, in recent weeks, he has looked like a walking disaster.

The centre-back should have been sent off for a reckless challenge in his mini-cameo during the Old Firm derby, a moment that had supporters fuming with his display.

He was nervy during the Scottish Cup final as well, miscommunicating with Christopher Jullien which allowed Hearts to go clean through on goal.

Duffy was haphazard against AC Milan too, failing to get close enough to his markers and allowing easy goal-scoring opportunities.

He’s not only displeased supporters but he’s received plenty of criticism from pundits. Andy Halliday said last week: “He looks as if he’s got no confidence whatsoever, none. Obviously I wasn’t on for the last Old Firm game but he was on for about two minutes and the ball dropped to him and he tried to flick it away with the side of his foot. It’s like he has no confidence at all.”

That was evident during the clash with Hamilton on Wednesday. The £25k-per-week earner surrendered possession of the ball 12 times and as he did v Milan, gave his opponents far too much room.

There was an instance in the first-half where he fortunately got away with one. Duffy presented David Moyo with far too much time and space but he failed to find the net.

As a result, it’s time for the defender to be withdrawn from the XI. He is an accident waiting to happen and with a player as talented as Stephen Welsh on the bench, Lennon should look towards him on Saturday instead.

Duffy just isn’t good enough.
