An update has emerged on West Ham target Adam Armstrong, regarding Southampton’s interest in his services.

What’s the talk?

According to the Lancashire Post, Southampton have had an offer rejected for West Ham transfer target Adam Armstrong. The Saints are the first Premier League side to firm up their interest with a bid, but Blackburn have deemed it unacceptable as they hold out for £20m.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this summer that Norwich, Southampton and the Hammers are all keen on signing the attacker, who has 12 months left to run on his current deal at Ewood Park.

Fans would love him

David Moyes must act swiftly to secure a deal for Armstrong this summer. Southampton are showing that they are serious about a move for the forward by submitting an official offer for his services.

This means that they look to be ahead of the Hammers in the race as they have already been able to make a concrete bid and make their interest known to Blackburn, whereas West Ham appear to be just eyeing him, as it stands.

However, this update should spark Moyes into action. The Scot should realise that Southampton will be able to snap him up unopposed unless West Ham react quickly and make an offer of their own.

They should be looking to do this as he could be a superb addition to the squad as he could compete with the likes of Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio for a spot in the side.

During the 2020/21 campaign, Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray lavished praise on the “explosive” forward, pointing out his maturity in spite of his age and his pace at the top end of the pitch.

He told FourFourTwo:

“Adam does (make a difference) as he has done all season. I think Adam has matured and he’s only 23.

“He’s a boy really, but his explosive pace at the top end of the pitch allows you to play both ways, to not be overly concerned if you’re pinned back around the edge of your box because one pass releases pressure to someone like (Harvey) Elliott to play the pass that he can hit just leaving it in the space for the speed and dynamic movement of Armstrong – it’s a devastating effect for the team.”

Armstrong has the mentality and pace to be effective at Premier League level. His record in the second tier for Blackburn is phenomenal, with 28 goals last season and 16 the year before. This suggests that he could also have the finishing ability to make the step up.

West Ham should look to sign Armstrong, as fans would love watching him play at the London Stadium.

As Mowbray explained, he is explosive and able to utilise his speed to create chances for himself by running in behind. This could get supporters excited as he could be able to provide entertainment with his direct style of play and his phenomenal goalscoring ability.

Faltando capricho nas finalizações – ambos os lados – o zero reinou no placar no final da etapa inicial.

No segundo tempo, o Glorioso voltou mudado, com Bruno Silva na lateral (Jonas saiu) e a entrada de João Paulo e Leandrinho no meio. Logo no primeiro minuto, Victor Luís cobrou falta na área, a bola passou por todo mundo e morreu na rede de Douglas. O Alvinegro abria o placar e se tranquilizava.

Apesar de estar com um meio mais técnico, a equipe recuou pelo contra-ataque. Roger e depois Rodrigo Pimpão tiveram chances dentro da área. Ambas desperdiçadas. Não era dia do ataque conseguir balançar as redes.

Passando a maior parte do tempo sem a bola, o Botafogo voltou a sofrer com as questões físicas. Leandrinho – que entrará na etapa final – foi substituído por dores musculares. Depois, foi a vez de Camilo cair sentindo. Apenas depois de um tratamento fora de campo que o camisa 10 retornou, ainda cambaleando.

Com Marcelo se juntando a linha defensiva, Carli e Emerson Silva mantiveram a defesa firmes, enquanto a equipe de Cairo Santos pouco ameaçou a meta de Gatito Fernández, que completou seu primeiro jogo sem ser vazado pelo clube.

No fim, os três pontos vieram para começar a Taça Rio com o pé direito. O time teve a chance de se preparar ainda mais para o desafio contra o Estudiantes-ARG, terça-feira. E a torcida mandou o recado no final. A competição que se tornou prioridade para os botafoguenses segue sendo a Copa Libertadores.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Mikkel Damsgaard to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by Club Doria 46 (via Sport Witness), who claim that Fabio Paratici wants to make the UC Sampdoria winger his “first thunderous shot” as Tottenham’s new director of football.

The report goes on to state that the Italian is a big fan of the 21-year-old and attempted to sign him during his time at Juventus, while Leeds United, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are all also thought to be considering a move for the Denmark international in the summer transfer window.

Fans should be buzzing

Having highly impressed with Denmark at Euro 2020, the fact that Paratici appears so keen on landing Damsgaard as his first signing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer should have fans buzzing.

Indeed, over his five appearances for Kasper Hjulmand’s Denmark side this summer, the £11.7m-rated man scored two goals, registered one assist and created one big chance for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.8 shots and making 1.2 key passes per game.

The 21-year-old winger also proved a huge help for his side in a defensive capacity, making an average of 1.6 interceptions and 1.2 tackles per fixture, as well as winning possession 1.4 times and 4.6 duels in each game.

These metrics saw the £2.9k-per-week winger earn a rather remarkable average SofaScore match rating of 7.28, ranking him as Denmark’s joint best performer in the tournament, playing a key role in his side reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

As such, it would certainly appear as if the man Kasper Schmeichel dubbed a “phenomenal” player would indeed be a fantastic first signing for Paratici to get over the line for Spurs, however, with a considerable amount of interest from a number of fellow Premier League sides, the Italian will have to act quickly if he is to land the winger this summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been reacting to an image posted by the club’s official Twitter account showing Ruben Neves donning the club’s new home colours. 

It’s unclear if Portuguese midfielder Neves will be wearing the shirt when the new Premier League season begins.

What’s going on with Ruben Neves’ future?

The Athletic reported at the end of May that Wolves were planning to sell Neves during the summer transfer window.

The article explained that the Midlands outfit would ‘need to sell big if they want to buy big’, and that they hoped to bank £35million from offloading the 24-year-old.

That would represent a healthy profit on the £15.8million they paid to sign Neves from FC Porto back in July 2017, when they were still in the Championship.

Neves has gone to make 176 appearances for the club in all competitions, bagging 20 goals (via Transfermarkt).

Wolves have already sold one of their Portuguese stars this summer, with goalkeeper Rui Patricio sealing a £9.8million move to AS Roma earlier this week.
