A pausa para a Copa do Mundo veio a calhar para o elenco do Flamengo. A equipe se reapresentou na última segunda-feira e já começou a enfatizar os trabalhos de preparação, inclusive os jogadores que estavam lesionados. Por isso, o chefe do departamento médico do clube, Márcio Tannure, comentou a situação de cada jogador, em especial o do colombiano Orlando Berrío. Fora da equipe há mais de oito meses, o atacante está em franca recuperação, porém ainda sem prazo estipulado para voltar.

– Berrío tem uma evolução satisfatória, o que nos deixa com perspectiva de retorno antes dos 12 meses, período máximo de retorno. Mas a volta depende de série de fatores, clinicamente, fisicamente, mentalmente, tecnicamente. Por isso temos equipe multidisciplinar – comentou Tannure, completando em seguida:

– Não dá para dar data de retorno dele agora. Mas posso dizer que tem evoluído e estamos otimistas do retorno antes do prazo máximo. Acreditamos que podemos antecipar.

O chefe do departamento médico rubro-negro, também evitou falar dos retornos de jogadores como Rhodofo e Geuvânio. Segundo ele, todos estão trabalhando para ficar logo a disposição de Maurício Barbieri. No caso de Rhodolfo, o jogador deve ficar um tempo maior longe.

-Não teve folga. Requer mais tempo. Semana que vem, acreditamos que possa evoluir da fisioterapia. Foi um pouco mais grave. Mas tem reagido de maneira positiva. Vamos respeitar os prazos e nossos processos – contou.

Já Geuvâniofez trabalho à parte, pois sentiu entorse no tornozelo nos últimos dias. Diego, pós-edema, também faz trabalho similar.

Agent Mazhar Majeed had bank overdrafts of more than £700,000 and at least 27 bank accounts, a court heard on Friday in the ongoing alleged spot-fixing trial involving Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif.As the prosecution neared a conclusion to its evidence on the eighth afternoon of the trial, policeman Detective Constable Steven Blake from the Special Investigations Unit at New Scotland Yard, gave detailed information of Majeed’s financial situation when probed by the case’s junior prosecutor Sarah Whitehouse and Ali Bajwa QC, Butt’s legal representative.Majeed was recorded on a secret camera accepting two separate amounts of £10,000 and then £140,000 from an undercover journalist working for the to assist with cheating involving Pakistan cricketers. That money was marked by the investigators.The jury heard that Majeed had two accounts with the Allied Irish Bank, three accounts with the Clydesdale Bank, one account with the Royal Bank of Scotland-owned Coutts, one account with Barclays and as many as 21 accounts with the NatWest Bank – with 13 of those closed by the time of the police investigation but eight were still active. One of those NatWest accounts was £497,949 overdrawn.Bajwa, who has already sought to discredit Majeed previously in the trial, probed Blake further and confirmed with him in front of the court that his total overdraft debt was worth £704,043. He also revealed records of other multiple closed accounts with the HSBC Bank, prior to the case in question.Alexander Milne QC, the barrister of Asif, re-established the point, while Blake was in the witness box, that no marked money belonging to the was found in Asif’s hotel room when it was raided by police (£2,500 of marked money was found in Butt’s room and £1,500 of marked money in Amir’s room).He also confirmed that Asif had no Swiss bank account, as Bajwa also did, though Blake explained that it was difficult to investigate the presence of Swiss bank accounts. Blake also said that of the £150,000 handed over by the newspaper, £104,300 is yet to be recovered.Butt and Asif, clients of Majeed’s, are facing charges of conspiracy to cheat, and conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payments, following the Lord’s Test in August last year when they allegedly conspired with the agent, teenage fast bowler Mohammad Amir and other people unknown to bowl pre-determined no-balls. Butt and Asif deny the charges.The case continues.

A manhã deste domingo foi de festa em São Januário. Cerca de três mil torcedores foram ao estádio acompanhar o primeiro treino aberto do Vasco na temporada. A última atividade antes da partida decisiva diante do Bahia, na noite desta segunda-feira, também no estádio, pela volta das oitavas de final da Copa do Brasil, acabou servindo de motivação especial aos jogadores de olho na complicada missão na busca da classificação: o Cruz-Maltino precisa recuperar o resultado negativo de 3 a 0 do jogo de ida.

Os portões de São Januário foram abertos às 9h, com a atividade durando aproximadamente 1h. Com um intenso calor na região de São Cristóvão, bairro da Zona Norte do Rio de Janeiro onde se localiza São Januário, os jogadores fizeram em campo um leve trabalho físico, acompanhando de um treino recreativo. Na arquibancada, a torcida fazia a sua parte com gritos de incentivo aos jogadores, além de uso de instrumentos musicais. Também foi constadada a presença de famílias completas de vascaínos.

– É muito motivante um treino aberto como esse. Este carinho da torcida é muito bom. Espero mais gente na partida desta segunda-feira. É prazeroso ter tudo isso de gente em um treino domingo nove da manhã. É uma prova de amor que faz nos dar confiança para entrarmos em campo e fazermos a nossa parte. Nada é impossível. Sabemos que o Bahia vem fechado. Temos que ter cuidado, mas trabalhamos forte neste período para irmos em busca de nossos objetivos – afirmou o meia Yago Pikachu em entrevista coletiva.

Tuskers’ seamers Keegan Meth, Glen Querl and Tom Smith all took two wickets each in tight spells to keep Rocks to 114 for 8 in their 20 overs. Meth made the first incisions, striking twice in the fifth over to reduce Rocks to 24 for 2. Smith then chipped in with wickets in the middle overs and the lack of partnerships made it difficult for Rocks to lift their scoring-rate. At 89 for 7 in the 18th over it looked like they would struggle to get past 100, but some quick runs from Hilary Matanga and Tafadzwa Kamungozi got them to 114. Meth gave away just 13 runs in his four overs while Smith conceded 12.Tuskers needed just 16.1 overs to chase the target. Gayle was dismissed in the first over but that was the only wicket to fall as Smith and Paul Horton guided Tuskers home. Smith scored 63 off 56 balls to cap off an impressive all-round performance while Horton got 39 off 40.

Mountaineers reached 139 in their 20 overs and Eagles were set a revised target of 105 runs to win in 15.1 overs. They lost wickets regularly in their chase and fell well short. Fast bowler Dirk Nannes struck with his first two balls to peg Eagles back. They never quite recovered, as wickets fell at regular intervals to ensure the required run-rate kept rising.Mountaineers’ innings was built around Hamilton Masakadza, who scored 36 off 27 balls with three fours and a six. That was after Tino Mawoyo had got them off to a flier with his 16 off 10, which included two sixes. Medium-pacer Nathan Waller struck three times in the middle overs to keep Eagles in check but their total of 139 proved enough.
